Honda Amaze

Honda Amaze is the latest hybrid car developed by the world class, world famous Japanese auto manufacturers, the Honda.  It is a sedan version of the skeletal model, Honda Brio. The manufacturers claim them to be an ultimate new experience for the Indian people and the market within. The Honda Amaze is going to be the first diesel car from the Japanese auto manufacturer on the Indian soil and is expected to be launched by 2013-2014. The sedan is expected to be a complete hybrid of Honda Brio and Honda City in all their features. The ex-showroom price for this sedan is expected to be Rs. 7,60,000.

Exterior

Although the sedan is remodeled with keeping the base model intact, the designers have done their best to reinstate the sedan with some stylish bits. The radiator grille and the front bumper are completely remodeled to give them a stylish profile to the car. The pointed headlights together with the twin layered chrome grille give a rather more classy look to the front view.  Despite the fact that the bumper of the car is provided with a small air dam, the aerodynamic profile of the car is still maintained by the sharp cuts and lines on the car. The sporty side profile is enhanced by the wheel arches and the shoulder lines. The boot of the car is designed perfectly to blend in with its hatchback version, without hindering the classy outlook as produced by it. The full sized clear lens tail lights on the rear bumper, the lip spoiler and the chrome plate adds in exquisite profile to the compact sedan. The overall length of the car is 3990mm, width- 1680mm and height of 1500mm. The ground clearance offered is 150mm.

Interior

Although the outlook of this new hybrid is reinstated with its sharp features, the interior is a complete replica of the base model, the Honda Brio. The interiors are designed with dual tone and the plastic quality offered is a much familiar one, which is not of premium quality and can be accepted to be used in an entry level sedan. The front seats give luxurious space and support to the passengers within, and the sedan is designed to comfortably occupy five passengers. The three spoke steering wheel and the instrument console is designed magnificently and gives a futuristic outlook.  Power windows, power steering, remote locking and powerful AC add in comfort to every drive.

Engine & Performance

The Honda Amaze sedan though not yet launched is believed to be launched in both petrol as well diesel variants keeping in mind the current demands in the market. Both these engines are expected to give high performance as well as better fuel efficiency. The petrol version will be powered by 1.2 litre i-VTEC engine which is currently used in Honda Brio as well as the Jazz. The maximum power developed by this engine is around 90PS @ 6200 rpm and a maximum torque of 110 Nm @ 4800 rpm. On the other hand the diesel version is powered by a 1.5 litre four cylinder turbocharged i-DTEC engine which also delivers a maximum power of 90 bhp and a max torque of 210 Nm. Both these engines will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission that would definitely help the vehicle achieve better performance as well fuel economy.

Safety

The top variants of Honda Amaze come with dual SRS airbags in the front, and it also has Anti Lock Braking System with Electronic Brake force Distribution feature, and Brake Assist. To add in extra safety to both the car and the passengers within, the sedan offers ventilated disc brakes in the front and drum brakes at the back. In addition to these, the sedan also has a central locking feature; pre-tensioner associated seat belts to ensure the safety of all the passengers within. The child locking facility makes sure that the sedan is suitable to leave the children alone at back seats without any fear of them, opening up the door, all by themselves.
